Standing Seam Metal Roof
Standing seam metal roofs are by far the most popular type of metal roofing system, especially in New Orleans. They are composed of continuous metal panels that run from the top of the roof’s ridge down to its eaves. Each panel is connected at a seam that is raised up above the level of the roof, hence the name “standing seam.”
Why is a standing seam so desirable? In most roofs, the seams are the weakest and most vulnerable parts of any roof. These are the areas where water damage usually occurs, as seams are susceptible to leaks. Because they are raised higher than the roofing panels, they are less vulnerable to settling moisture. In addition, because the seams run only vertically (as opposed to both vertically and horizontally) your metal roof has fewer seams overall.

We remove all old shingles or tiles, make necessary repairs to the original roof decking, and replace flashing and other roofing components, usually where leaks may occur (around the chimney, roof-to-wall junctions, etc.)

- Install proper weather-proofing and moisture-barrier underlayment.
- Install new shingles, tiles, or metal roofing.

Clean Up
- Complete clean-up around your home — like we would our own.
- Discard all debris, old material, and packaging materials.
- No nails left behind! We thoroughly comb around your home for stray nails.

This building on Coursey Boulevard had 1×4 furring strips installed over the existing roof, per request. Garcia Roofing fabricated the roof edging and all valley metal flashings and installed it prior to any other metals. Since the roof was bell-shaped, we installed two separate panels from the eave to the ridge and made a specially fabricated transition flashing to connect both panels together.
