When is the Best Time to Replace My Roof?
Before we begin this discussion, let’s make it clear that any significant roof damage or deterioration should be dealt with immediately! This post is in relation to scheduled roof replacement that can be undertaken during the most ideal time of year.
It is best to conduct any roof work when conditions are favorable and dry. It is also beneficial to do this work when it is not too hot or too cold. For our clients who have the option of scheduling their replacement based on their convenience, we recommend the cool and dry months of autumn.
Why is fall the best time of year for roof replacement?
This time of year is typically the most temperate and dry in most parts of the country. We are all familiar with the rainy seasons that Louisiana experiences as well as the hot and humid summers. If you are able to, we suggest you have your roof replaced after hurricane season and before it gets too cold allowing it time to settle before winter.
Enough time to be ready for winter
Roofing materials do require a period of time to set and acclimate to the surroundings. When a roof is installed in autumn there is enough time for it to seal and create an airtight barrier that will keep out rain and cold. During this time of year, it is also easier for workers to put in full days without weather-related interruptions and get their roof work completed in a timely manner.
If any urgent work needs doing, do it immediately
Remember, that while the mild autumn months are the most ideal time of year to replace your roof, if it is starting to fail and show signs of damage, we highly recommend that the work is completed right away, no matter the season. No matter the weather, delaying necessary roof repair or replacement can cause even more trouble!
